Home Builders Garner ’08 Legislative Success

The 2008 Legislative Session ended last Friday with the ceremonial dropping of the handkerchief, but not before lawmakers had passed a bevy of bills that position Florida’s home builders for success.

Despite the tough economic woes that forced lawmakers to cut more than $3 billion from the state’s budget, the Florida Home Builders Association successfully advocated for the passage of its 2008 member-identified priority issues.  Full Story >>

FHBA Hosts Successful Spring Conference

Leaders Break Ground on Camp Harper
Florida’s home builders broke ground on the nation’s first-ever Future Builders of America (FBA) Leadership Training Camp for youth interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. Camp Harper will serve as the official home of the FBA Summer Camp program – an educational program currently providing more than 2,000 Florida high-school-aged young people important construction and leadership skills. In addition to being the nations first-ever camp of its kind, it will also be the nation’s first-ever green built camp. Full Story >>

The Florida Legislature has just completed its third week of the 2008 Legislative Session, and already many of the Florida Home Builders Association’s member-identified priority issues have moved into the spotlight. Of particular significance is an important onsite wastewater treatment system bill which, last week, received a favorable hearing in the House Environmental Protection Committee.
