FHBA and You Make A Winning Team

The Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) is a dynamic, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to ensuring safe, affordable housing for the people of Florida while protecting and representing our members so their businesses can grow and prosper in a free market economy.

Our job is to limit the government's intrusion in your business. We seek ways to control mandated costs, taxes and regulations that burden you. But given the challenges our industry faces in the legislative, legal and regulatory arenas, our success depends on you – our members.

Your participation in this process by becoming a member increases our chances of success. Volunteerism enables us to achieve our goals and gives us a strong, unified voice in the political process.

When you become an active member of FHBA, you are:

  • contributing to the long-term growth and profitability of the residential construction industry
  • committing yourself to a high standard of professional ethics
  • furthering your professional development, and
  • increasing your competency to achieve greater profits

You can absolutely make a difference in the effectiveness of our association and the shaping of Florida's housing industry, so start now by contacting FHBA or your local association to let them know how you want to participate. By serving as a committee member or association leader, you'll find this volunteer work to be highly rewarding.

Your Opportunities Include
It would be impossible to list every opportunity for volunteer service but perhaps this list will give you some ideas. Everyone with the desire to serve will be given the opportunity.

  • Committee Chair, Vice Chair or Member
FHBA has numerous committees, councils and task forces that work to fulfill the goals of the Association. Depending on your specific area of interest, choose from the options listed on the reverse side of this brochure. For a more detailed description of any committee, visit the fhba.com website or contact any member of the FHBA leadership team.
  • State Director
You may want to represent your local home building association on the FHBA Board of Directors. There are openings for builders and associate members based on the membership count of your local HBA. The FHBA Board includes approximately 250 members who meet three times a year to conduct the business of the state Association. Call your local association to request an appointment.
  • Area Leader
FHBA is divided into seven geographic areas. In each area, an Area Vice President (builder) and an Area Associate Vice President (associate) represent FHBA. These 14 individuals travel their areas promoting FHBA and work with local HBAs on special issues. They also represent their area on the Executive Committee, the Legal Action Committee and the Industry Issues Committee. Area Leaders also chair the Area Caucuses held at each state meeting. Generally, area leadership is the training ground for a senior officer position.
  • Senior Officer
Of the eight highest elected offices of FHBA, those of President, First Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Immediate Past President positions are all held by builder members. The Second Vice President, Third Vice President and Immediate Past Second Vice President positions are all held by associate members. Each year elections are held for the positions of Secretary and Third Vice President.
