The Florida Home Builders (FHB) Foundation created the scholarship fund to assist in addressing the pressing need for a better educated and trained workforce in the construction residential building industry. Traditionally, at least 10% of the Foundation’s general operating budget is set aside to be awarded. Since 2000, the FHB Foundation has awarded more than $15,000 in scholarship funds to students interested in a career in the residential construction industry.

Scholarship applications are made available to the public annually in January. Awards are usually made at the annual spring conference which coincides with Florida’s Legislative Session. Applicants should be students in good standing and recommended by their teachers or returning students with a strong interest in the residential construction industry or related trades who desire to pursue higher education opportunities but lack financial resources. An applicant should demonstrate an interest in obtaining employment in the residential construction industry upon graduation.
